Kure Beach
Kure Beach is mid-sized beach community located on Pleasure Island, North Carolina, just south of Carolina Beach. If you are looking for the beauty of Carolina Beach with less of the hustle and bustle, Kure Beach is for you!
- General Information
- Do not stand, walk, drive, dig, or otherwise get on the dunes. Doing so will result in a hefty fine. The dunes are the only protection the beach has. Generally, anywhere sea grass is growing is a protected dune.
- No beach gear (i.e. tents, chairs, volleyball nets, etc) is allowed within 15′ of the dunes.
- Do not leave shade tents, chairs, or personal items on the beach from the hours of 7:00pm to 8:00am. Any items left on the beach will be removed and disposed of by the town.
- Glass is prohibited from the beach at all times.
- If you or a member of your party digs a hole in the sand, it must be filled in prior to your departure.
- Surfing
- Surfing is prohibited within 250 yards of the Kure Beach Pier.
- All surfers are required to use a leash.
- Surfers are reminded to respect the “space” of other beach patrons. Reckless surfing that endangers another person is prohibited.
- Alcohol. Alcohol is not permitted on Kure Beach at any time. Public consumption of alcohol, other than in a home or establishment, is also prohibited.
- Fires and grilling. Neither fires nor grilling are allowed on the beach at any time.
- Parking
- the Town of Kure beach offers free parking to it’s patrons.
- There is no parking allowed on sidewalks or bike paths.
- Do not block driveways.
- Vehicles on the beach.
- Vehicles are not allowed on the beach strand at any time.
- Beaches near Kure Beach that do allow vehicles include:
- Freeman Park in Carolina Beach (910) 458-2994
- Fort Fisher State Recreation Area 910-458-5798
- Pets
- Pets are prohibited from the beach from 1 April until 30 September. Failure to adhere to this ordinance will result in a $25.00 fine for the first offense and a misdemeanor charge for the second. All other times, pets must be on a leash not exceeding 15′ in length.
- Pets are allowed to roam leash free at Gurney Hood Dog “Bark” located on K Avenue.
- You must clean up after your pet and have the means to do so at all times anywhere in the town. Failure to do so will result in a fine. Dispose of waste in available trash cans. Animal waste needs four weeks to degrade, and if left on sidewalks and grass, it can get into the water supply.
- Never leave your animal unattended in a vehicle. Even on just a warm day, your dog could die in a few minutes from heat stroke or exhaustion. The safest plan is to leave Fido at home. The town in summer is no place for a dog. Here’s a quick rule: if it’s too hot for you in bare feet, it’s too hot for your dog.
